The course will be of
interest to both established gynaecological surgeons and trainees
wishing to learn new techniques or update their knowledge and skills. A
special element in this course is the satellite transmission of live
surgery. Ample time has also been allowed for discussion of principles
and techniques.

The meeting provides a forum for learning from untoward incidents and sharing
good practice in
promotion of patient safety. The first day concentrates on anticipation and
interception of potential harm
to patients and the second day focuses on medico-legal issues, with emphasis on
lessons from case law. This
is the only annual national conference on risk management in obstetrics and
gynaecology. The emphasis
throughout the meeting is on practical rather than theoretical concepts, and
delegates have the opportunity
to network with colleagues involved in safety and quality improvement.
